Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono has gone on-sale in the Indian market at Rs 16.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The bike is set to be available for delivery by the end of July. This is Ducati's only single-cylinder model which was announced in the international markets sometime back. India launch of the same was also officially teased on the company's social media handles last week.
The standout feature of the Hypermotard 698 Mono is its 659cc liquid-cooled Superquadro Mono engine. This impressive single-cylinder engine delivers 77.5bhp and 63Nm of torque, earning it the distinction of being the most powerful single-cylinder engine globally. It is equipped with a six-speed gearbox and features a slip-and-assist clutch. Additionally, enthusiasts have the option to include a quickshifter as an optional extra.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono exudes a Supermotard racing vibe with its compact and aggressive styling. It features notable design elements such as dual side-mounted exhausts, five-spoke alloy wheels with a striking "Y" design, and an LED headlight characterized by a double "C" light profile. The high and flat seat, along with the pronounced front mudguard and sharp tail, further underscore its sporty and dynamic persona.
Beneath its enthusiastically designed exterior, the Hypermotard 698 Mono features a robust steel trellis frame linked to a steel-tube subframe and an aluminum swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by an adjustable Marzocchi USD fork at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. For braking performance, the bike is equipped with Brembo M4.32 brake calipers gripping a 330mm disc at the front. Underpinning its striking appearance is a suite of advanced technologies such as ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, and Ducati Power Launch.
Overall, Ducati's introduction of the Hypermotard 698 Mono marks a fantastic addition to its lineup in India.
Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India, said, "The Hypermotard 698 Mono embodies the unbridled thrill of motorcycling in its purest form. This is more than just a machine; it's a declaration of individuality. Ducati's engineering prowess is on full display with the world's most powerful single-cylinder engine, a masterpiece of performance that delivers exhilarating power with every twist of the throttle. It now comfortably sits at the pinnacle of a segment which is not the most popular in our country, but we are committed to launch all new Ducati models in India, especially the ones as special and technologically advanced as the Hypermotard 698 Mono!”
