Senior Hyundai management recently shared that the brand will launch the Creta EV in India in the coming months. Sources now confirm that the Creta EV will make its global debut in the second week of January 2025. The launch of the electric SUV is likely to take place later at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, which will be held between January 17 and January 22. The Creta EV is Hyundai's first mass-market electric vehicle but its third EV in India. Previous EV launches from South Korean automakers include the Ioniq 6 and the Kona EV.

Hyundai Creta EV To Feature Unique Aesthetics

Upon launch, the Hyundai Creta EV will face competition from the Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra BE 6e, MG ZS EV, and later on from the Maruti e Vitara and Honda Elevate EV. Details related to the Creta EV are scarce. Spy images show that the electric SUV has a similar exterior shape to its ICE counterpart. Hyundai will add unique aesthetic changes to distinguish it from the petrol/diesel-powered Creta, such as a closed front grille, different badging, and bespoke alloy wheels.

Creta EV Could Borrow Electric Powertrain From Kona EV

The interior of the Creta EV will be identical to the standard Creta. However, like the exterior, there will be a few unique touches. This could include a unique colour for the upholstery and different graphics for the dual-digital displays. Details related to the Creta EV's battery, range, and powertrain remain undisclosed. We expect the electric SUV to borrow its powertrain and battery from the new-gen Kona EV sold overseas. It uses a single-motor, front-wheel-drive setup, generating 138 hp.
