Mahindra XUV700-Based EV To Be Called XEV 7e

Mahindra has recently introduced two new electric vehicles in India: the XEV 9e and BE 6e. They are the first vehicles to be introduced by the homegrown automaker under its new XEV and BE sub-brands. Both SUVs feature a unique design language. The XEV 9e has an SUV-Coupe shape, while the BE 6e has a much more radical design. Soon, Mahindra will introduce a third electric SUV in India. Like the other two, it will be underpinned by the INGLO electric vehicle platform and based on the ICE-powered XUV700.

Mahindra Electric has filed a trademark for the XEV 7e

Mahindra Files Trademark For XEV 7e

According to a recent patent filed by Mahindra, the XUV700-based EV will be called the XEV 7e. As the nomenclature suggests, it will be part of the XEV sub-brand and sit below the XEV 9e. Mahindra had earlier previewed this new electric SUV through the XUV.e8 concept. Since the XEV 9e and BE 6e's design is identical to their respective concepts, the XEV 7e will likely follow a similar trend. This means that, unlike the flamboyant aesthetics of the other two EVs, the XEV 7e's design will be a lot more traditional.

New XEV 7e Likely To Feature A Simple Design

On the outside, its shape will look close to the ICE-powered XUV700. However, its face will bear a similar design as the XEV 9e. This means Y-shaped LED daytime running lights joined by an LED lightbar. It will have a closed grille with the central headlight units housed inside ingresses on either side of the front bumper. That said, the interior of the XEV 7e will be similar to the XEV 9e. It will have a triple-screen layout. However, unlike the SUV-Coupe, it will offer three-row seating.

XEV 7e Will Likely Share Powertrain With XEV 9e

The XEV 7e will use Mahindra INGLO electric vehicle architecture, which underpins the XEV 9e. The latter is available with two battery pack options: a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh unit. The variant equipped with the 59 kWh pack gets a 231 hp electric motor, while the variants with the 79 kWh battery get a 286 hp electric motor. While not confirmed, Mahindra could deploy similar powertrain and battery combinations on the XEV 7e.
